Pillars of Eternity
Pillars of Eternity was developed by Obsidian Entertainment and released by Paradox Interactive. The game has been called a spiritual successor to the popular Infinity Engine games developed by Bioware, i.e. Baldur’s Gate Icewind Dale and Planescape: Torment.
The game takes place in the fantasy world Eora, mostly in the nation of Dyrwood. At the start of the game, the player character will experience a rise of power due to a catastrophic supernatural event. Later, the player discovers that this is a watcher – a person who can see souls and past lives. The player must then travel to find out what caused his awakening.
It was made available for Linux immediately upon releas, on March 26, 2015, following a crowdfunding campaign that reached $4,163,208. This made it the highest-funded computer game on Kickstarter at that point. The game uses the Unity game engine.
