Hard West
Hard West is a tactical turn-based strategy game somewhat similar to Xcom or Jagged Alliance. You have two moves on each turn, on which to move, use abilities or attack. What makes Hard West stand out is the original Wild West setting with occult themes. The tactical battle system is the most important part of the game. However, some elements are borrowed from the RPG genre, such as briefly find yourself on a map between battles.
The campaign is divided into chapters, with each chapter having its own map. You are constantly facing a variety of choices, all of which can have different consequences. For example, stealing from the dead means bad luck and could cause injuries in the next battle.
The most important element, however, is the turn-based battles. Much like in Xcom, positioning and flanking the opponents is very important.
You also have the opportunity to equip each character with special abilities by giving them different cards and a variety of weapons. Although the environments are often quite similar, it is often possible to play the assignments in different ways. Some missions have an initial phase where you can sneak around and perform secondary missions, threaten guards to silence and position yourself before fighting. There are also variations in mission goals.
